Picture Inspiration: 52 Weeks of Photocentric Creativity and Community
Picture Inspiration is a companion space to the Picture Series classes and consists of weekly photocentric prompts, challenges and projects. It’s a virtual coffee shop – a place to gather, chat, share photos, glean insignts, ask questions, and get inspired. Through connection and creativity, we are delving deeper into what it means to use photography to reveal the magic in our everyday lives.
Since I started this class last week, 17 weeks after it began in February, I’m doing the current week and a catch-up week until I’m caught up with the rest of the class. Luckily, I’m not alone in doing this! Below are excerpts from the long email we get with our assignment for the week.
We start things off this week with self-portraits. Capture your heart and soul. Show us a part of you that you are comfortable sharing. A little glimpse of you in a reflection, your shoes, or even a more abstract symbol of who you are. Shoot and share whatever moves you. This is a shot of YOU. Only YOU can capture YOU. Have fun this week discovering yourself!
This week, capture in your images a moodiness of sorts… not any mood in particular. You have permission to explore your feelings and moods through your lens. Show us something that you are really feeling this week.
This week I’m projecting calm but underneath that are some swirling currents of anticipation or unsettled feelings.
