Here we are at the final post of my house to home series. In case you missed the others, go see the dining room, the living room (post 1 and post 2), and the window coverings posts. I’ve enjoyed giving you a little tour. 🙂 Thank you for all your lovely comments too!

Our kitchen was awesome already, since I got to decide where the cabinets would go, etc. when we bought and renovated our house. You can read all about how we updated our 1961 house in this post from a couple years ago. There are links at the bottom for the earlier renovation posts.
For now, I simply wanted to add little pops of color. That under-cabinet bar for the mugs (from IKEA) was a huge deal to me. Every day, I see it many times, and it always brightens my mood.
My sister-in-law found these kitchen chairs and gave me her significant discount to purchase them. I love how easy they are to clean.
Last but not least, my favorite update. I learned about this from Pinterest… you can make your own valances out of styrofoam! I know!
I got the foam core from Lowes, cut it to size (outside so all those tiny pieces were not in my house), and used sewing pins and hot glue to make the sides stay. Then I wrapped them in batting and the fabric and pinned them in place. I know it sounds simple and of course, it looked it, but it took me for…e…ver.
But I love how it looks! I used L-brackets and brads to hang them. Secure L-brackets to the wall and use the brads (they’re under the fabric so you have to plan ahead) to attach the valance to the bracket. They’re super light-weight so it works.
I wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year. I look forward to seeing you in 2014! I think it’s going to be a year of learning, growth, and gratitude.
What an awesome kitchen! I think we have the same red tea kettle. I use pops of red in my kitchen, too. Did you do the “home” letter at the top?? Gorgeous!

Yes, I collaged home-ish scrapbook papers onto the letters. Thanks for the compliments!
I love how large your kitchen is and the pop of red is wonderful. I especially love your work station in the kitchen. Happy New year Naomi .
Happy new year, dear friend! I hope it’s bright and joyous.
Looks great Naomi! Love how the red pops!
Thanks, Stacie. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Okay, now I just want to pull up a chair there in that warm, cozy kitchen and have a cup of coffee with you.
