About me
Welcome and thank you for visiting! I’m Naomi – a mother, writer, creative soul, and avid reader. I aim to share my thoughts and ideas to inspire positive change that will help you live an authentic and caring life.
Poetic Aperture is for me and for you. I often write just to process the swirling activity inside, but I also hope to inspire COMPASSION, COURAGE, and WONDER in you and support you on your journey of elevating the everyday.
I am a rabbinical student at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York. I am fortunate to have an amazing 15-year-old daughter and a supportive husband of 22 years.

The house of belonging
I created this canvas after watching the “belonging” section of Brené Brown’s “Kitchen Table Parenting” series. Brené teaches: “Belonging is the innate human desire to be a part of something larger than us. Because this yearning is so primal, we … Continue reading
Within me is a sanctuary
One lovely person in my Mussar group said something about the peace and sanctuary of meditation. Something about what she said really resonated with me and I thought about taking the Ecclesiastes text from part of that lesson and creating … Continue reading
Reluctantly, I signed up for Life Book 2017… and it’s awesome!
Do you remember that I participated in Life Book in 2013? I don’t know how it’s been that long ago, honestly. I thought maybe I skipped a year… not 3! Well, here’s why I decided to dive in head first … Continue reading
